Impotant Information:

For late E46 series 318i (2004-2005) the customer must send the ECM, key and EWS (immobiliser) for testing.
The EWS is located above the pedal assembly and mounted to the firewall

For E90/E91 series 320i (2005-2012) the customer must send the ECM, key and CAS (immobiliser) for testing.
CAS is located alongside the steering column

NOTE: These units are often water damaged.
When refitting your repaired or Exchange Engine Module (ECM) it is imperative that you rectify the reason for the water ingress.
The Engine ECM is mounted in a sealed ECM-Box (plastic Box) near the firewall, below the windscreen on the passenger side of the engine bay.
When there is a build-up of leaves and foreign matter at the bottom of the windscreen on the passenger side ,the drain will become blocked.
When the vehicle is washed, or it rains, water will then run down the windscreen and overflow into the ECM-Box. Eventually the Engine ECM will fail.
This Drain must be completely cleared and tested for operation.
The ECM-box (E-BOX) drain also needs to be checked for blockage.

When refitting your repaired or Exchange Engine Module (ECM) it is imperative that you rectify the reason for the water ingress.
The Engine ECM is mounted in a sealed ECM-Box (plastic Box) near the firewall, below the windscreen on the passenger side of the engine bay.
