    ESL Removal Procedure:
    • See images below on how to remove the ESL (Electronic Steering Lock)
    • ESL pictured below suits W906 Sprinter ,W639 Vito & Viano, W203 C class / C209 CLK / W211 E class / C219 CLS only
    • Insert Key and allow steering lock (ESL) to unlock. Then disconnect plug to ESL (so ESL remains unlocked )
    • Proceed with turning the screw as per pictures below

    Common Faults:

    • Vehicle wont start
    • Noisy steering lock
    • Key will turn in Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS / EZL) but will not start
    • No dash light when turning key in EIS
    • Electronic steering lock (ESL / ELV) can not be heard when key is inserted into EIS lock
    • Steering wheel can not be turned, even when inserted into EIS
    • Fault code 9003 - N26/5 ESL / ELV control unit - No feedback during unlocking. The steering is under stress.
    • Fault code 9005 - N26/5 ESL / ELV control unit - Communication fault.
